Corporate Carbon Footprint Consultancy
Carbon footprint calculation is work that may be requested from businesses that export, supply corporate customers or are part of a large supply chain. As Asel Environmental Consultancy in Antalya, we provide end-to-end consultancy on corporate carbon footprint calculation (based on ISO 14064-1), greenhouse gas emission inventories and ESG/sustainability reporting. Sustainability consultancy also has its own dedicated page.
Why is a carbon footprint being requested?
• Exports — In sectors exporting to the European Union, reporting obligations on the carbon content of products are being phased in.
• Supply chain — Large corporate buyers request emissions data from their suppliers; a company that cannot provide it may be dropped from the list.
• Reporting — Sustainability reporting obligations are being phased in for companies above certain size thresholds.
• Finance — Investors and banks look at environmental performance in their lending and investment decisions.
• Cost — An emissions calculation is also a map of your energy and fuel consumption; it reveals saving opportunities too.
What do Scope 1, 2 and 3 mean?
• Scope 1 — Direct emissions: fuel burned at your own facility, company vehicles, refrigerant gas leaks.
• Scope 2 — Indirect emissions from the electricity, steam, heating and cooling you purchase.
• Scope 3 — Other emissions in your value chain: purchased goods and services, logistics, business travel, waste, and the use and end of life of your products.
Although it varies by sector, a significant share of emissions may fall under Scope 3. That is why drawing the boundaries of the calculation correctly from the start is critical for a meaningful result.
How the process works
1. Setting boundaries — It is clarified which facilities, companies and activities will be included in the calculation.
2. Data collection — Invoice, consumption, production and logistics data are compiled; a method is set for missing data.
3. Calculation — Carried out on the basis of ISO 14064-1 and internationally recognised emission factors.
4. Inventory report — The breakdown of emissions by scope and source is presented together with intensity indicators.
5. Reduction plan — The highest-impact areas are identified and realistic targets and actions are defined.
6. Reporting — Reporting aligned with frameworks such as CDP and GRI, and preparation for independent verification if required.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the calculation take?
It depends largely on data quality. In a business that keeps regular consumption records, the process moves quickly; in a first calculation, data collection is usually the longest step.
Is independent verification required?
It is not required for voluntary calculations. However, if you will present your report to third parties, verification by an independent body increases its credibility. We prepare the report so that it is ready for verification.
I run a small business — does it make sense for me?
Yes. Small businesses that supply corporate customers or export may also be asked for emission data; we keep the calculation simple and proportionate to your size.
Does it need to be repeated every year?
A carbon footprint is not a snapshot but a process. It is usually repeated annually so that your reduction targets can be tracked.
If your customer or bank is asking you for emissions data, let's plan together where to start. We will review your existing data and set out the scope and timeline of the calculation.
